The Company’s main business revolves around Phthalic Anhydride, a downstream product of Orthoxylene which in turn is a third derivative of crude oil. IGPL also manufactures Benzoic Acid (BA) as a by-product.

IGPL is equipped with one of the largest capacity at a single location, which will stand at 2,22,110 MTPA of Phthalic Anhydride, 7,660 MTPA of Maleic Anyhdride and 1,500 MTPA of Benzoic Acid. The Company has the ability to cater to local and international markets.
The Company has initiated a Greenfield Expansion of Phthalic Anhydride & its Derivatives up to 80,000 MTPA. The project cost is estimated to be Rs. 600 crores. The downstream product i.e. Advance Plasticizer with a capacity of 8,400 MTPA is
expected to come on stream during the current year at a total cost of Rs. 30 crores.

IGPL produces Maleic Anhydride (MAN) and Benzoic Acid through wash water
generated from and derived after the production of PAN and is used in agro and food
businesses. MAN is a chemical intermediary primarily used in:
- Production of unsaturated polyester resin
- Coating, pharmaceutics and surfactants
- Plastics, lubricating oil additives and agri chemicals

Phthalic Anhydride (PAN) is used in manufacturing plasticizers, which are most essential in making PVC products, shoe soles, cables, pipes and hoses, leather cloth, films for packaging and other products.
It is also used to manufacture alkyd resins used in paints and in the production of unsaturated polyester resins for building materials, plastic products, textile industries and printing inks.
Maleic Anhydride
Maleic anhydride is an Organic compound. It is a colorless white solid with an acid odour. It is used in the manufacturing of unsaturated polyester resin which is used in Automobiles, Tanks and Pipes, Epoxy resin, Lubricating oil additives and in food industries.
Another market for maleic anhydride is lubricating oil additives, which are used in gasoline and diesel engine crankcase oils as dispersants and corrosion inhibitors.
The food industry uses malic acid which is derivative of maleic anhydride in artificial sweeteners and flavour enhancements. Personal care products consuming maleic anhydride include hair sprays, adhesives and floor polishes.
Maleic anhydride is also a precursor to compounds used for water treatment detergents, insecticides and fungicides, pharmaceuticals, and other copolymers.
IGPL produces Maleic Anhydride through wash water generated out of the production process of Phthalic Anhydride. Existing capacity of Maleic Anhydride is 7,660 MTPA.
